Install a mechanical platform on a 20° roof pitch without compromising the structure.
Utilised EasyMech MR© for a lightweight, penetration-free installation.
The project brief called for tonnes of HVAC equipment to be placed on an acutely angled roof. At the same time, due to the layout of the support structure below the roof, the plant platform was not able to be connected to the rafters.
The best-case scenario called for a lightweight penetration-free platform capable of supporting heavy loads which would not move or slip.
The solution-of-choice was our EasyMech MR Purlin-Mounted Metal Roof platform.
It is designed to work with pitches of 20° (or more) and is positioned above the purlins. Instead of cutting into the roof we connected the joists to the roof material via seismic clips. They are designed to suit Kliplock, Trimdeck, Spandeck, Kingspan and corrugated profiles.
The upside to a penetration-free platform was that there is no risk of leaks into the building.
Despite having to support tonnes of equipment, the EasyMech MR deck was manufactured using lightweight G550 Light Gauge Steel. Our in-house Industrial Design and Engineering departments developed a triangulated structure which distributed its load out to the purlins. It has made structural steel obsolete.
Our frame weighing just 14kg per square metre could support live loads of 5.0 kPa or more.
Being so light it was flat packed and easily lifted to the roof with a smaller crane, and the bearers and joists were carried into place by just a couple of installers.
